Hi, I am Thomas Yip, a final year student studying computer science at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I am interested in computer science, machine learning, and physical AI.

In recent years, I am intrigued by the advancement and development in AI, and I have taken courses that are closely related such as machine learning (COMP 4211), Large Language Models (COMP 4901B) and Large-Scale Machine Learning System for Foundation Models (COMP 4551).

Throughout my undergraduate studies, I have joined the HKUST Robotics Team as my extracurricular activities and participated in MATE ROV competition and Virtual RobotX 2023. These experiences have built up a solid foundation for me to work as an intern in Skybotics and UROP. When I was doing my exchange program at the University of Minnesota, I have taken Introduction to Intelligent Robotic Systems (CSCI 5551) to learn about robotics principle.

Inspired by the rapid development of AI, I worked with robot arm system with AI control policy in my final year project. My group has built a system with Agentic AI and Visual-Language Action model (π0 from Physical Intelligence) to serve as a robot assistance. This experience has deepen my understanding of the robot application in the future society.
